Festival of contemporary circus and artistic creation for unconventional spaces
No two bodies are the same.
All bodies are similar, however, in the complex power they possess: they’re threshold bodies, intermediaries between us and the world. The great beauty of a body will never be its shape, its size, its flexibility or strength, but the vigor in which its substance, our flesh, alive and volcanic, inhabits the universe, maintains contact with the Earth and all other bodies.
A body doesn’t exhaust itself in its capabilities. It is a continuous experience, a permanently new place and what we have that’s older. A body is an archive, a manifest, a stand, a fire. Its anatomy does not matter when it deflagrates.
A body is nothing less than a revolution. A place for violence and wonder, of stubbornness and commitment. A body is a possibility.
This year, LEME reflects, through its programming and parallel activities such as the DIVE program – Deep Learning Activity – on the theme “Diverse Bodies”, inviting participants to think about inclusion and accessibility, rejecting the idea that the body is the limit.
The ideal body is the body that exists. Exactly this, the one we have now, here, in this precise moment.
In its fourth edition, LEME gathers 16 contemporary circus companies, from 10 different countries, representing 70 artists of 16 nationalities. Presents 16 projects , in 31 shows, including an international premier, six nacional premiers and one preview, in addition to three workshops and two artistic residencies.

Não há dois corpos iguais.
Todos os corpos são semelhantes, porém, no complexo poder de que gozam: são corpos portais, intermediários entre nós e o mundo. A grande beleza de um corpo não será nunca a sua forma, o seu tamanho, a sua flexibilidade ou a sua força, mas o rigor com que a sua matéria, a nossa carne, viva e vulcânica, habita o universo, se mantém em contacto com a Terra e com todos os outros corpos.
Um corpo não se esgota nas suas capacidades. É uma experiência contínua, um lugar permanentemente novo e o que temos de mais antigo. Um corpo é um arquivo, um manifesto, uma tomada de posição, um incêndio. A sua anatomia pouco importa quando deflagra.
Um corpo é nada menos que uma revolução. Um lugar de violência e maravilha, de obstinação e entrega. Um corpo é uma possibilidade.
Este ano, o LEME reflete, através da sua programação e atividades paralelas como o programa DIVE – Deep Learning Activity – sobre o tema “Corpos Diversos”, convocando os participantes a pensar a inclusão e a acessibilidade, rejeitando a ideia de que o corpo é o limite.
O corpo ideal é o corpo que existe. Exatamente este, que temos agora, aqui, neste preciso momento.

Apresenta 16 espetáculos, em 31 exibições, incluindo uma estreia internacional, seis estreias nacionais e uma ante-estreia, além de três oficinas e duas residências artísticas.
