LEME 2019

A body is defined as a limited portion of matter. For the contemporary circus and for what we want for LEME and its (in)definitions, this portion is mutant, volatile, ephemeral, but infinite in its manifestation and strength. The matter acts as a deformed scenario, things are not what they seem, flesh and elements uncertain if they are body or scenery; all of them raw material.

LEME returns to its berth. In this second edition, matter is the starting point, establishing new ground and new circus languages. The focus remains on artistic creation and unconventional spaces as improvised stages, strengthening the challenge for reflection and critical thinking about the contemporary circus.

The festival takes place over the course of four days, one of them dedicated to the CIRCUS FORUM, promoting reflection meetings between sector professionals. International shows, support for Daniel Seabra’s artistic creation, short performances from the NAVEGAR section and various training courses for professionals, students and families. Between the 5^th and 8^th of December, LEME challenges artists and audiences to think and embrace the limitless possibilities of matter.

Um corpo é definido como uma porção limitada de matéria. No circo contemporâneo e no que queremos para o LEME e para as suas (in)definições, essa porção é mutante, volátil, efémera, mas infinita na sua manifestação e força. A matéria, aqui, como cenário desformatado, as coisas como elas não são e a carne e os elementos que não se sabe se são corpo ou cenário, mas que são tudo matéria-prima.

O LEME regressa ao lugar. Na segunda edição, parte-se da matéria para que se abram novos caminhos e se criem novas linguagens para o circo. Não só se mantém a aposta na criação artística e nos espaços não convencionais enquanto palcos improvisados, como se reforça o desafio à reflexão e ao pensamento crítico sobre o circo contemporâneo.

O festival decorre durante quatro dias, um dedicado ao CIRCUS FORUM, que promove encontros de reflexão entre profissionais da área. Além de espetáculos internacionais, o apoio à criação artística de Daniel Seabra, curtos espetáculos itinerantes da secção NAVEGAR e ainda várias formações para profissionais, estudantes e famílias. De 5 a 8 de dezembro, o LEME desafia artistas e público a pensar e a tocar a ilimitada possibilidade da matéria.
